Mist
Sculptures

Robert jon Religa

"I wanted to capture the essence of traditional Oriental landscape images with their use of clouds, light and mist
to create the illusion of depth and movement.

"But, I wanted to take the process a step further. I wanted to embody that motion. To bring into being the dynamic tension between the fixed immovable nature of the mountain and the ever-changing ethereal aspects of light and mist.

"Taking Bronze sculptures as the immutable aspect of the work, I added mist and light as the dynamic. The mist rising up from the top of the sculptures, then flowing down their length, to the base where the mist and fog then pools; with the light playing and dancing across the characters and mist.

"Ever-changing clouds in the heavens transforming to peace and tranquility on the earth."
